It sounds like you made up this thing called the matriarchy and blame it for things. The word Arch is Greek for control as in monarchy rule by one person. It sounds more like you describe typical behavior of oppressed people trying to keep others from getting free. They don't have the power to make that happen, so they use all kinds of tricks. Matriarchy is not a good word for that
